RADIESSE® is a safe, FDA-approved dermal filler made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, and is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure.
The primary component is identical in composition to the mineral portion of bones and teeth. Upon injection, it immediately adds volume to safely contour and correct facial features. Beyond the immediate impact, Radiesse dermal filler continues to work over time. The microsphere technology starts a process called collagenesis, stimulating your body to produce new collagen and encouraging collagen to grow around the injection area. Radiesse dermal filler actually helps your body create its own naturally younger look. Results are immediate and may last up to a year or more for many patients. This is a particularly good choice if you are looking to restore volume to sagging cheeks or correct deep nasolabial folds.

Radiesse is injected with a small needle and normally takes about 15-30 minutes. A topical anesthetic or ice can be applied prior to injection. In addition, Radiesse is mixed with lidocaine, an anesthetic, prior to injection to enhance comfort.
The most common side effects are mild to moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects are redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, lumps/bumps and bruising. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a small risk of infection.
Some medications make you more prone to bruising, so it is beneficial to avoid these medications for a week prior to your injections. Examples of these medications include: aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications ( motrin, ibuprofen , naproxen), vitamin E, fish oil and omega 3 fatty acids. Please tell your practitioner if you are taking any of these medications.
